Today marks a huge date for young, up and coming golfers, as well as seasoned veterans trying to make it back to the various professional tours! The 2024 PGA Tour Q-School event begins today in Ponte Vedra, FL, with 171 players teeing off at the TPC Sawgrass – Dye’s Valley course and Sawgrass Country Club. The top 5 golfers (plus ties) will earn PGA Tour cards for the 2025 season, whereas the next 40 (plus ties) earn Korn Ferry tour status for 2025. The next 20 (plus ties) earn full PGA Tour Americas status for next year.
The TPC Sawgrass – Dye’s Valley course was designed by Pete Dye with Bobby Weed, with Jerry Pate serving as the player consultant during design. Jerry Pate was the champion of the Players Championship in 1982–the first year it was played at Pete’s infamous TPC Sawgrass – Stadium course (the bigger brother of the Dye Valley course at the TPC Sawgrass resort). Bobby Weed was a prominent figure and close friend on Pete’s design team, also reworking Pete Dye’s Medalist Golf Club and TPC – River Highlands courses to name a few.
Joining top college players and other talented young golfers are a few players who have won PGA Tour events in the past, including Martin Laird, Nick Watney, and Sean O’Hair.
