The restoration of Pete Dye’s Dunes, Mountain, and Stadium courses at the famous PGA WEST golf resort has finally completed, just in time for the Stadium Course to host the PGA’s American Express tournament in mid- January. Tim Liddy was the perfect person to lead the restoration (not a renovation as Executive Manager Ben Dobbs makes very clear), as his close working ties with Pete and Alice during the latter parts of their designing career provided him with direct knowledge and understanding Pete’s intent for each hole.

Liddy’s restoration was fairly exhaustive to shake off the course changes that time had put onto each–as he reworked bunkers, green complexes as well as over 12 acres of turf to get the course back to it’s original, pristine condition.

It will be interesting to watch how the PGA fairs on the renovated course on January 16-19, 2025 at The American Express! All three courses are now open and playable by the public and pros alike!
