Dye Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass voted as a Top 20 golf course in Florida

Our friends at Golf Pass released their results from the annual vote for best public courses in Florida, and Pete’s TPC Sawgrass (Dye Valley course) came in at #17.

The Golf Pass ranking is based on an aggregated analysis of reviews submitted by the Golf Pass community of players for every golf course—so this is truly like “the people’s ranking”. The more reviews and higher marks in the review, the better the course’s ranking.

It says a lot about how much the general public loves the Dye Valley course. Seemingly always overshadowed by its more expensive and more popular big brother “The Stadium Course”, the Dye Valley course can be just as challenging, with numerous water hazard-lined holes and forced carries. It allows players to experience Dye’s tough course concepts over on the Stadium Course without breaking the bank.

An interesting side tidbit on the Dye Valley course—Pete chose the first PGA winner of The Players Championship at his Stadium Course to be the player consultant for the of design Dye Valley. Jerry Pate, after winning the inaugural tournament in 1982, then worked with Pete on Dye Valley. This even despite Jerry throwing Pete into the lake by #18 immediately after winning the tournament—much to the pleasure of the rest of the players who were defeated by the course! Watch the historical video here.
