Our friends at Golf.com have been publishing their Top Courses in the US leading into the new year, and their most recent article highlights Pete Dye’s “The Honors Course” as Tennessee’s #1 golf course.
Architect Gil Hanse, a close friend of Pete and part of Dye’s architectural tree, led a recent restoration of the course where the greens on #10 and #11 were restored more to Dye’s original design, and creek tributaries in front of #18 green were exposed.
Found in Ooltewah, TN just outside Chattanooga, The Honors Course will host the US Amateur Championships for the women in 2026, and will host the men’s US Amateur Championships for the 2nd time in 2031. The Honors Course also hosted the 1994 Curtis Cup (US vs UK/Ireland international competition), as well as numerous other high-profile national, regional and collegiate amateur tournaments.
