SwingU just published a nice article highlighting public courses hosting 2024 PGA Tour events. The 2024 PGA Tour has a total of 39 tournaments, of which 22 are public courses (granted, some are very expensive…but the public can play them)! Of those 22 public courses hosting PGA Tour events this year, four of them are Pete Dye courses!
Here are the four PGA Tournaments played at public Pete Dye courses, in order of when they are played on the PGA calendar:
1. The American Express in January is played at PGA West in La Quinta, with pros playing twice at Pete Dye’s Stadium Course. All of PGA West’s courses are open to the public, with preferences given to guests staying at their resort.

2. The Players Championship, billed as the ‘5th Major’, is played every year in March at Pete Dye’s TPC Sawgrass Players Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra, FL. With a greens fee topping $650 during peak season, it’s one of the pricier public courses in the US.

3. The RBC Heritage is played at Pete Dye’s Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head Island, SC. It was first played in 1969 in the Fall (Arnold Palmer was it’s first champion), but in 1983 moved to it’s now traditional spot in the schedule the week after The Masters, and is now followed by yet another tournament at a Pete Dye design!

4. The Zurich Classic has been played in New Orleans at Pete Dye’s TPC Louisiana course since 2005. In 2017, the tournament format was changed to be between two-man teams–the first time this was done on the PGA Tour since 1981. This unique format for an event on the PGA Tour has made this tourney fun and a must-see on TV, and in 2024 it is played the week after the RBC Heritage. The public can book tee times for TPC Louisiana nearly 3 months ahead of time online!
