About the Society

With its beginnings stemming from an informal gathering of Pete Dye design admirers meeting in 1994 to play the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, the Pete Dye Society was formally created in 2020 after Pete passed away in the Dominican Republic at 94 years of age. Many legendary architects in golf history have formal Societies recognizing them–including A.W. Tillinghast, Alister MacKenzie, and Donald Ross. It is only fitting that Paul Dye, Jr. (Pete Dye) has a Society honoring his massive contributions to course design and the game of golf–which includes over 150 golf course designs (some of which are the most recognizable golf courses in the world), induction to the Golf Hall of Fame, and a Legacy carried on by current master architects such as Tom Doak, Bill Coore, Bobby Weed, Jack Nicklaus, and many, many others whose lives have been touched by Pete!

The Pete Dye Society is a non-profit, 501c3 organization that is focused on:

If you have a passion for the sport of golf, a love for the history of the game, and a desire to learn more about one of the great architects of our era, come Join the Pete Dye Society!!
