The Pete Dye Society is pleased to share exciting news about one of Pete’s most celebrated designs. Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia, long regarded as one of Dye’s finest works, has appointed Nagle Design Works as its consulting architect.

Jim Nagle, founder of Nagle Design Works, has a special connection to this course and to the Dye family. While studying at West Virginia University, Nagle first encountered Pete Dye Golf Club and even met Pete himself. That experience inspired his pursuit of golf course architecture. Shortly afterward, Nagle had the opportunity to meet Perry Dye and spend time at Dye Designs, further shaping his career path. This full-circle return to Pete Dye Golf Club underscores the depth of his respect for the Dye legacy.

The restoration and enhancement work will focus on:

  • Expanding and improving practice facilities
  • Adjusting teeing areas for modern play
  • Updating bunkers and grass lines to manage increased member use

Importantly, the goal is not to change the essence of the course, but to honor and preserve its identity. As Nagle emphasizes:

“It is a Pete Dye masterpiece, and it will stay a Pete Dye masterpiece.”

Since its opening in 1994, Pete Dye Golf Club has showcased the rugged Appalachian landscape in a way only Dye could imagine. Once ranked as high as 45th on America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses by Golf Digest, it continues to hold a place among the nation’s elite layouts.
